“Thoughts on Physical Healing” are based on scripture and my journey for the past five years.  I believe in a wholeness approach to healing which includes emotional, generational and spiritual issues.  In the Bible, God also heals people instantly.  At the end of this article are many scriptures to declare over yourself or to another for healing.

Thoughts on Physical Healing

  1. God heals because of His goodness and compassion and not because of our goodness or giftedness. (Exodus 15:26; Psalm 100:5; Matthew 14:14: Luke 5:12-18)
  2. We do not have to beg God for healing, He wants to heal. Begging is usually based on fear, therefore, ask God based on His goodness.  (Psalm 103:1-5; 3 John 1:2)
  3. God wants heal but there is no guarantee of His specific plans or timetable. (Isaiah 53:4-5; Mark 4:23; Matthew 12:15; Phil.2:26, 30; 1 Tim. 5:23; 2 Tim. 4:20)
  4. All believers including new believers and children have the authority to release healing.  (Mark 3:14-15; 6:7; 16:15-18; Luke 9:1; 10:19)
  5. Expect divine healing every time you pray and leave the results to God.  If you rarely expect healing, then you will likely get what you expect.  (Matthew 21:21; Mark 11:23-24)
  6. Moving in the Holy Spirit changes everything.  You can release His Spirit and hear His strategy.  Holy Spirit can heal anywhere and at anytime.  (Acts 5:12-16;10:38; Romans 8:11; I Corinthians 4:20)
  7. God does the healing not us, therefore…  (John 11:4; Luke 18:43; Acts 3:8, 12)
  8. When praying for healing, celebrate what God did rather than focus on what did not happen.  Answered prayer makes us pursue God and unanswered prayer makes us pursue God.  (Psalm 46:10; Matthew 6:33)
  9. Sickness is the result of the fall of man and the plans of Satan and Jesus came to destroy the works of the enemy.  (Genesis 3; Acts 10:38; Romans 8:19-23; I Cor. 5:15-21)
  10. Jesus paid the ultimate sacrifice on the cross to forgive sin and heal sickness.  It is impossible, inconsistent and incompatible to point to cross without pointing to healing.  (Isaiah 53:4; Matthew 8:17; I Peter 2:24)
  11. Jesus and the disciples never interceded for healing and never asked Father God if they could heal; they simply healed others.  (Matthew 8:14-17; 9:34; 12:19-14; Luke 10:8-9; Acts 3:6-8)
  12. Jesus was still able to see limited healing in places of low levels of faith and atmospheres of skepticism.  (Matthew 13:53-58; Mark 6:5)
  13. If you want to be healed, wanting is often the only requirement for healing.  Getting a prophetic word or special anointing from another Christian is a bonus but not required for healing.  (Mark 9:24)
  14. If you want to stay healed, you better understand faith.  (John 10:10; James 4:7; 5:16)
  15. If you want to pray for healing, you have to move in faith.  (Hebrew 11:1-6; II Corinthians 5:7; Matthew 9:2; 9:27-30; 7:7-8; Mark 9:23)
  16. In healing thousands, Jesus did not find the root cause of the illness, ask people to repent of unconfessed sin, renounce generational strongholds or even ask them to believe before they were healed.  (Matthew14:17; Luke 4:40-41; 9:13-14)
  17. We cannot choose or not choose who God heals, God chooses. We cannot judge if someone is worthy to be healed, God chooses.  (Luke 8:26-39; 10:17-19; 17:11-19; 22:49-51)
  18. Miracles are usually instant, healing is often slower but both are answers from God. (Jeremiah 33:3; Matthew 21:22; John 14:14; 16:23-24; 1 John 5:14-15)
  19. God is not the cause of the illness or the reason for the delay of the healing.  (Genesis 3; Acts 10:38; Daniel 10:12-13)
  20. God doss not cause physical suffering to teach us lessons, but God often uses physical suffering to teach us lessons.(Romans 8:18, 28: John 16:33; James 5:13: 1 Peter 4:12)
  21. Death is the not the final healing.  Death is death and is a result of the fall of Adam and Eve.  Death is the transition to our resurrected body before God.  (Genesis 3; Romans 5:12; I Corinthians 15:15)
  22. To see the face of a person who is healed: Priceless!  Wild Gratitude.  (Isaiah 38:9-20; Luke 18:43; Acts 3:8)
  23. Healing may not be rational, scientific, or church tradition but for the prayer person it will be filled with adventure, risks, excitement and skepticism from others.  (John 5:19; 14:12; I Corinthians 4:20)

    Mark 11:23-24 Amplified Bible (AMP)
Truly I tell you, whoever says to this mountain, Be lifted up and thrown into the sea! and does not doubt at all in his heart but believes that what he says will take place, it will be done for him. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 Amplified Bible (AMP)
For though we walk (live) in the flesh, we are not carrying on our warfare according to the flesh and using mere human weapons. For the weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood], but they are mighty before God for the overthrow and destruction of strongholds, [Inasmuch as we] refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One),

    Galatians 3:13 Amplified Bible (AMP)

In conclusion, be strong in the Lord [be empowered through your union with Him]; draw your strength from Him [that strength which His boundless might provides]. Put on God’s whole armor [the armor of a heavy-armed soldier which God supplies], that you may be able successfully to stand up against [all] the strategies and the deceits of the devil. For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the despotisms, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere. Therefore put on God’s complete armor, that you may be able to resist and stand your ground on the evil day [of danger], and, having done all [the crisis demands], to stand [firmly in your place]. Stand therefore [hold your ground], having tightened the belt of truth around your loins and having put on the breastplate of integrity and of moral rectitude and right standing with God, And having shod your feet in preparation [to face the enemy with the firm-footed stability, the promptness, and the readiness produced by the good news] of the Gospel of peace. Lift up over all the [covering] shield of saving faith, upon which you can quench all the flaming missiles of the wicked [one]. And take the helmet of salvation and the sword that the Spirit wields, which is the Word of God.

    Philippians 1:6 Amplified Bible (AMP)

And God’s peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things [fix your minds on them].

    James 4:7-8 Amplified Bible (AMP)
So be subject to God. Resist the devil [stand firm against him], and he will flee from you. Come close to God and He will come close to you. James 5:14-15 Amplified Bible (AMP)
Is anyone among you sick? He should call in the church elders (the spiritual guides). And they should pray over him, anointing him with oil in the Lord’s name. Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully. Be well balanced (temperate, sober of mind), be vigilant and cautious at all times; for that enemy of yours, the devil, roams around like a lion roaring in fierce hunger, seeking someone to seize upon and devour. Withstand him; be firm in faith [against his onset–rooted, established, strong, immovable, and determined], knowing that the same (identical) sufferings are appointed to your brotherhood (the whole body of Christians) throughout the world.

1 John 3:21-22 Amplified Bible (AMP)
And, beloved, if our consciences (our hearts) do not accuse us [if they do not make us feel guilty and condemn us], we have confidence (complete assurance and boldness) before God,  And we receive from Him whatever we ask, because we [watchfully] obey His orders [observe His suggestions and injunctions, follow His plan for us] and [habitually] practice what is pleasing to Him.

1 John 5:14-15 Amplified Bible (AMP)
And this is the confidence (the assurance, the privilege of boldness) which we have in Him: [we are sure] that if we ask anything (make any request) according to His will (in agreement with His own plan), He listens to and hears us. And if (since) we [positively] know that He listens to us in whatever we ask, we also know [with settled and absolute knowledge] that we have [granted us as our present possessions] the requests made of Him.
